' FROM THE ' CHASE ' TO THE NOU CAMP VIA WEMBLEY '

21/02/2011 20:01

It's a busy time for our resident stadium announcer Paul Burrell.
Following today's FA Trophy 1/4 final,he'll be heading to Wembley
Stadium to take up microphone duties at tomorrow's Carling Cup
Final.Since 2002 Paul has announced at several major finals including
end of season play offs at both Wembley and Millennium stadiums.
Paul has been with us here at the Scholars since Nov 2005 but you have to
go back to Aug 1991 to the start of his association with Arsenal FC.
In the name of neutrality the Football League won't allow Paul to be
tomorrow's match announcer.....however he will be conducting pre-
match on pitch interviews with ex-Gunners Charlie Nicholas and
Perry Groves. The Arsenal connection continues on Mon 7th March
when Paul will join up with the official Arsenal flight to Barcelona in
the role of English speaking announcer pre match at the Nou Camp
Stadium......this opportunity arising five years after performing the
same role at Stade de France for the Arsenal/Barca 2006
Champion's League Final.
We wish Paul luck and are impressed to note that he'll be donning
his blue/white Chasetown FC badge wth pride at both of these
iconic venues.

Credit To Cardiff

02/02/2011 21:03

CHASETOWN FC have paid tribute to the fans of Cardiff City who made the journey to the Scholars Ground on Saturday only to be frustrated by the weather.
Around 60 Bluebirds supporters made the coach trip from South Wales to see the Scholars take on Northwich Victoria in the Evo-Stik Premier League, but the game was called off as the party arrived due to a frozen pitch. The group were still determined to enjoy their day out in the Midlands, and the club staff laid on lunch for the fans while club sponsor Steve Seed donated free drinks.

After a trip to the Chasetown club shop the Cardiff supporters left bedecked in Scholars shirts and were still able to get a football fix as they made the short trip to watch Chasetown's local rivals Rushall Olympic beat Spalding United 6-0.

Scholars boss Charlie Blakemore praised the Bluebirds fans for their dedication and said: "We hope to continue to build on the strong links forged since our historic FA Cup match in 2007."

One travelling supporter said the journey "had been about showing support for a club that is part of the bigger Cardiff City family."  All at Chasetown FC would like to thank the Bluebirds fans for their excellent support, and they will always be welcome at the Scholars Ground whatever the fixture.
